W & H Seibergt Wetzlar 28712 Brass Microscope
This is a fine instrument.
The optics seem to work.
It has four objective lenses.
The stage rotates and translates, though it will need to be lubricated as it is not working in all directions.
The illuminator is a complex mechanism with a translation and iris adjustment.
The iris itself appears to be damaged, the mechanism appears to work, it can be opened to function, though perhaps not all the way.
The microscope itself weighs 13.5 pounds.
I am not an expert on microscopes so please examine the pictures carefully for condition.
This is a really incredible instrument.
It does focus on some paper test specimens I tried but I think it would require a little work to put back into perfect working order, or for the collector some cleaning.
There is no case.
I do not know the date of manufacture.
It is an understatement to say; “they don’t build them like this anymore”.
