Visconti presents the Ultima Lira Regno d’Italia limited edition fountain pen to commemorate the glorious 1,100 year history of the famous coin. When the lira was replaced by the euro, the Ultima Lira (last lira) was created and presented to the great state institutions during a ceremony marking the passage. The lira was the official currency of Italy beginning with the Kingdom of Italy (Regno d’Italia) in 1861 until 2002. The term originates from the value of a pound weight (Latin: libra) of high purity silver. Visconti's limited edition of 975 pieces is a black lucite cap and end section with an embossed, carved, and engraved 925 sterling silver overlay over metallic palladium plated base. Italian lira symbols are engraved by renowned coin creator Giorgio Buzzetti. The plunger filler system delivers ink to the rhodium-plated 14k gold nib. The edition is finished with a gold lira coin set into the cap head and is joined with a bottle of ink, which features a coin set into its cap as well.
