Inspired by the most famous figure of the Florentine Renaissance, "Lorenzo Il Magnifico" the Visconti Il Magnifico collection embodies the essence of the Renaissance period, combining luxurious and precious materials.
This is the third edition of Il Magnifico, previously released in red and green marble versions. The pen of great artistic and cultural importance is now available in lapis lazuli deep-blue color. During the Renaissance this material was particularly appreciated in Florence. It was at the Medici court that one of the most spectacular collections of lapis lazuli objects in Europe began.
The cap and blind cap are made from aged gold vermeil over solid 925 sterling silver and is finely chiseled with the fleur-de-lis motif, a symbol of Florence. The top of the cap is enriched with the ancient coat of arms of the Medici family.
The body of the pen is made from solid Lapis Lazuli stone and is faceted on eight sides like the Baptistery of Florence, whose famous doors are symbols of the Italian Renaissance.
The Il Magnifico Lapis Lazuli fountain pen features Visconti's power filling system, the Hook Safe Lock cap closure system, an oversized 18kt yellow gold nib, and is limited to 188 pieces worldwide.
Lorenzo de' Medici was an Italian Statesman and a 15th century Ruler of the Florentine Republic. Considered as one of the most powerful and enthusiastic patrons of the Renaissance age, Medici was commonly known as Lorenzo "Il Magnifico" (the Magnificent) by his contemporary Florentines as he was an influential businessman, diplomat, politician and a patron of scholars, artists and poets.
