Vintage Pair Marked Japanese Kutani 8" Foo Dragon Dogs with Moriage

Description

Offered are a pair of vintage Japanese Foo Dragon Dogs.  They are preowned but in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or hairlines.  They are a rust red in body color, covered with a darker rust moriage treatment.  The mane and tail are two shades of ivory , enhanced with swirls of shiny gold.  Each dog rests its paws on a ball of bright cobalt blue almost entirely covered over with moriage accents in orange, white, blue and green. Their paws are accented with triangular cobalt claws.  They each measure 8 " in height, approximately 6" from back legs to front of ball. The previous owner has added felt cushions on all of the bases and they are each marked with a makers' mark in Japanese characters.
The artistic detail on these pieces is amazing!  They are a masterpiece of Japanese art to be treasured for many years to come.
