    Description

Geisha in a rickshaw holding a pekinese is a very famous Japanese motif replicated in many artistic media. Produced for export, many versions of these figurines were embraced by the middle classes in Mid-Century Western popular culture. This is a small figurine made of early celluloid resin and hand painted and carved. This is a nice example is very detailed and she still has her parasol, many were lost; it is removable. The wheels do turn but it is not a toy, rather a testimony to the artist's skill. Very good vintage condition.
