    Description

This is an Elkhart Bach 36 trombone manufactured in 1970. Medium bore: .525 bore, 8" bell.
It's a player. In the 60s/70s era, the 36 was often used in symphonies by principal players for pieces with sustained high range/volume. As medium bore horns faded from orchestra popularity in the 1990s, they have become very popular in the jazz/commercial/latin music world for those who want the big sound & volume of a .548 but with the compact attack, cutting projection & high register accessibility of a .500.
When I purchased this horn in the 1990s it was missing much of the original lacquer and I was concerned with metal loss due to some pitting (commonly seen on Bachs from the era). I subsequently had the horn overhauled by Dan Oberloh in Seattle who at the time was one of the few technicians specializing in the cellulose lacquer used in the Bach factory.
Some copper bleedthrough appeared within a few months of the overhaul, but it has remained consistent over the past 25 years and is not degenerative.
The old square case is in poor condition, so I am including a brand new-condition 90's era rectangular (coffin) case (pictured).
The slide is fantastic. I would rate it 9/10. Sorry to see this one go but I'm having trouble hiding the fact that I own too many trombones from my lovely housemate.
I'm a fulltime pro player and I stand behind this horn. You can learn about me on social media or at www.jazztbone.com.

    From the Bach website (https://www.bachbrass.com/instruments/trombones/professional/36):
    Bach 36
Vincent Bach combined his unique talents as both a musician and an engineer to create brass instruments of unequalled tonal quality. Often copied but never duplicated, Bach Stradivarius instruments today remain the sound choice of artists worldwide.
The Bach 36 trombone features an 8" one-piece hand-hammered yellow brass professional bell that offers a subtle brilliance with a complex color. The .525" medium-large bore offers outstanding clarity and balanced response. The chrome plated nickel silver inner handslide tubes provide the ideal surface for smooth and quick handslide action. The clear lacquer finish adds a subtle warmth to the sound overall. The Bach 36 professional trombone is ideal for both symphonic and solo performance.
