Nice Omani Saif
Nice choppy 1796 or Hussar export blade, late 18thC.
Brass Turko-Islamic cross guard, wobbles.
Leather over wood scabbard. Tribal look.
Silver type fittings, not sure of quality, not hallmarked. Silver type mounts include: Lower suspension mount (moves), upper suspension mount,
Silver wire (loose), thin silver plate to back of grip, chape/scabbard drag at end. Silver will take a high polish.
This piece is a put-together, circa 1890 to 1920, of different components, to be both a decorative and functional tribal weapon.
Things are a bit loose, but this is an interesting and very displayable item that has seen 'active service', it's not some shiny modern piece from the souk. Not many of these around, compare elsewhere.
Good item, looks very cool on the wall. From my own collection, thinning. Bought in Oman.
