You are bidding on an ORIGINAL "coming attraction" Movie Glass/Lantern Slide that was designed to promote the theatrical release of the 1938, drama feature, "Road Demon".
This hand colored glass slide is an ORIGINAL and it is NOT a reproduction. It was created to be projected onto the movie theatre screen before the film was released to promote the "coming attraction". Some people in the movie collectible world have said, that, glass slides are much rarer than the paper poster memorabilia from the same film and are very rare pieces of film history.

Road Demon, the 1938 Otto Brower Indianapolis Speedway car racing sports romantic crime thriller ("A Sports Adventure"; about a young race car driver whose father was killed by gangsters when he refused to throw a race, and the same thing may happen to him) starring Henry Arthur, Joan Verlie, Henry Armetta, Tom Beck and Bill 'Bojangles' Robinson (as a tap dancing junk yard owner!)

Born in Illinois in 1912, Helen Vlahakis, later known as Joan Valerie soon settles down in Hollywood, where she studied drama at the famous Pasadena Playhouse. Darryl F. Zanuck discovered her there but gave her parts only in B movies, although in pleasant ones. By way of example, she was the charming blonde in office in John Ford's "Submarine Patrol" (1938), "Lillian Russell" (1940), "
Charles Chan at the Wax Museum
" (also 1940), "Rio Rita" (1942). By the end of the nineteen forties her contributions had become thinner and, after marrying with Greek producer Paris Methusis, she finally gave up acting. Her happy life as Mrs. Methusis came to a tragic end when, in her late sixties, she died in the aftermath of a car accident.

Sicilian-born character actor who appeared in scores of American films, usually as an exuberant and demonstrative Italian. As a teenager in 1902, Armetta stowed away on a boat bound for New York. There he did menial jobs until landing a position as a valet and presser at the Lambs Club, the New York actors' club. One of the members took a liking Armetta and arranged a small role for him in a Broadway show. Armetta followed this with many stage roles both in New York and in stock. In the early Twenties, he moved to California in search of work in movies, of which he'd had a taste while in New York. In Hollywood, Armetta slowly gained a name for himself as a character actor, and by the end of the decade, he had carved a niche for himself as a portrayer of humorous and sympathetic Italian immigrants, a position he maintained into the 1940s. He died of heart failure at 57.

Bill Robinson quit school at age seven and began work as a professional dancer the following year. Bojangles (the name referred to his happy-go-lucky ebullience) starred in vaudeville, musical stage and movies. He invented the stair tap routine and was considered one of the world's greatest tap dancers. His film debut was in Dixiana (1930). He worked in fifteen movies, but his movie fame came primarily from the films he made with Shirley Temple -- The Little Colonel (1935), The Littlest Rebel (1935), and
Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm
(1938). In 1989 the US Congress named his birth date as National Tap Dancing Day.

Mr. Beck played the juvenile lead in several
Charlie Chan

Mr. Moto
films, was the village priest opposite Shirley Temple in the film Heidi (1937), and was a soldier who died in 'Ronald Colman''s arms in Under Two Flags (1936). Mr. Beck also worked to promote the Screen Actors Guild to improve working conditions for actors. He left movie work in 1939 after the studio tried to reduce his wages. Died of Alzheimer's disease and heart ailments.

Originally referenced in films as Creighton Chaney, he was later credited as "Lon Chaney, Jr." in 1935, and after Man Made Monster (1941), beginning as early as The Wolf Man later that same year, he was almost always billed under his more famous father's name as Lon Chaney at the studio's insistence. Chaney had English, French, and Irish ancestry, and his career in movies and television spanned four decades, from 1931 to 1971.
