PAIR ANTIQUE ENGLISH GOLD BLACK ENAMEL HAIR MOURNING LOCKETS c1829 SARAH BARTON
A pair of antique English gold filled mourning lockets; beautifully made, with chased borders and bails, black enamel decoration around the motto 'In Memory Of', one with a cartouche engraved 'AB', and both with glasses holding woven hair mementos, the bezels engraved 'Sarah Barton died 9 March 1829 aged 44 years / yrs'.
Such a lovely pair...extremely collectible & so wearable!
CONDITION
: All original and generally very good. Slight gilding & enamel wear commensurate with age and use - see pictures. Some scratches to glasses.
DATE/MARKS
: Around 1829. Not marked.
DIMENSIONS
: Each 27 mm diameter (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
WEIGHT
: Approx. 18.9 grams together.
