Description
This is a used Olds Ambassador Trombone. The serial number indicates it was made in 1951 at the Los Angeles factory, before the decline in quality associated with the 60s and 70s. It plays great, I'm just downsizing some smaller horns as I focus more on bass trombone and tuba playing. The hand slide was in decent shape when I acquired the horn, and I had a tune up done at Dillon Music. Now it slides very smoothly. No dents or misalignment, etc, in the hand slide. Tuning slide moves easily as well. The finish does show quite a bit of aesthetic wear, but there are no dents or rot in the brass. In terms of use, this horn sounded GREAT when I used it for lead parts in a big band, and also suits some classical/early romantic repertoire written for smaller instruments than our modern large bore orchestral tenors.
Does not include the original Olds case - the case was in bad shape when I acquired the horn about ten years ago and I replaced it with a soft case, which I will include. Full disclosure though, if you planned to gig with this horn, it might be best to put it into a hard case, or a higher end soft case. Doesn't include a mouthpiece - feel free to message me if you need a mouthpiece and I could possibly add one in. Happy to answer any questions about the horn via message!
