    OFFICER'S BRONZE POUCH, OTTOMAN PERIOD
Fine silversmith workmanship,    3 7/8 OZ.
Was used to carry gun powder for the small musket in the mid-XVII c. The pouch is really tiny, there was just enough room for powder for 2 or three shots. It was mainly done for decoration. High ranking officers, effendis, paşas and other notables, carried a somewhat bigger musket on their belt, indicating their alpha male status.
