And Many, Many More Great Titles...
This hand colored glass slide is an ORIGINAL and it is NOT a reproduction. It was created to be projected onto the movie theatre screen before the film was released to promote the "coming attraction". Some people in the movie collectible world have said, that, glass slides are much rarer than the paper poster memorabilia from the same film and are very rare pieces of film history.
    Format:
    Glass Slide: 3 1/4" x 4"
    Plot Summary:
Cathy Mallory, beautiful socialite who prefers classical music, is taken by friends to a back-alley dance club. There, she meets blind pianist Dan Evans, who plays in Chick Morgan's swing band but seems to be a composer of great promise. Attracted but spurned, Cathy feigns blindness herself to get past Dan's bitter facade, scheming to get him to the doctor who can restore his sight...and to Carnegie Hall. But her actions bring about several twists in their relationship...
    Trivia
    :
Piano concerto by Leith Stevens Performed by Arthur Rubinstein and The New York Philharmonic-Symphony Orchestra"; "Conducted by Eugene Ormandy"
Dana Andrews wore opaque contact lenses throughout filming to give him a realistic sensation of blindness.
The beach scene was filmed at Trancas Beach, California, not far from where the final scene of The Planet of the Apes (1968) was filmed.
This is the second movie in which Merle Oberon plays a poor working girl to catch her working class man. The first one is The Cowboy and the Lady (1938) with Gary Cooper. Her character in that movie was Mary Smith. A truly delightful movie with a story line that was a bit more believable than Night Song.
"Lux Radio Theater" broadcast a 60 minute radio adaptation of the movie on May 29, 1950 with Dana Andrews reprising his film role.

    More Info on Dana Andrews
    :
Dana Andrews was an actor from the 1940s to the 1990s. He was born in 1909, and he was far from an "overnight success". He had many non-entertainment jobs before getting work at the Pasadena Playhouse (and training as an opera singer!). He was signed by Goldwyn in 1939, but it was two years before he got significant roles, and even those were pretty minor. He became a major star when World War II started, probably because most of the younger leading men were off at war, and he starred in some very memorable early 1940s movies, including several with Gene Tierney. But he became an alcoholic, and that severely hurt his career. In 1963, he became President of the Screen Actors Guild and served for two years. Some of his movies include: The Best Years of Our Lives, Laura, Tobacco Road, Belle Starr, and The Ox-Bow Incident. Sadly, Andrews suffered from Alzheimer's disease in his later years, and passed away in 1992 at the age of 83.
    More Info on Merle Oberon:
Merle Oberon was an English actress (she was born in India to English parents, and she lived in India until she was 17!) from the 1920s to the 1970s. She is probably best remembered for her role as Cathy in Wuthering Heights. Some of her other movies include: The Dark Angel (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), The Divorce of Lady X, These Three, and The Private Life of Henry VIII. She passed away in 1979 at the age of 68.
    More Info on Ethel Barrymore
    :
Ethel Barrymore was a legendary actress of the 1900s to the 1950s, who primarily appeared on the stage, but who appeared in several movies over the years, some of which include: Deadline-U.S.A., None But The Lonely Heart (winner of the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Portrait of Jennie, The Spiral Staircase (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), The Farmer's Daughter, Pinky (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Paradine Case (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), and Moonrise. She was of course the sister of famed actors Lionel and John Barrymore, and they only appeared in one movie together, "Rasputin and the Empress". Ethel passed away in 1959 at the age of 79.
    More Info on Hoagy Carmichael
    :
Hoagy Carmichael was a famous composer and piano player, who had acting roles in a number of movies from the 1930s to the 1970s, and he was surprisingly good as an actor! He was the composer of "Stardust", one of the most recorded songs of all time. Probably his finest acting role was in The Best Years of Our Lives. Some of his other movies include: Johnny Holiday, Young Man with a Horn, and Timberjack. Carmichael passed away in 1981 at the age of 82.
    More Info on Arthur Rubenstein
    :
Arthur Rubinstein was a Polish American classical pianist from 1900s to the 1980s. He received international acclaim for his performances of the music written by a variety of composers and many regard him as the greatest Chopin interpreter of his time. He passed away in 1982 at the age of 95.
