Description
Seller has kept thislot of 19
brochures in a box in his smoke-free home for a good long while, and says
"it delights yet hurts one's head to look at these!
This
lot of 19 brochures and pamphlets
describe, depict, and promote various Virginia attractions, points of interest, and places to stay in Virginia. All are located in and reference Virginia, and all are from around the time of the 1961-1965 Civil War Centennial, except the one "Superior Motel Directory--1963," whose 45 pages list select "Superior" affiliated motels and hotels in Virginia and elsewhere across the United States.
Anyone who has visited any or many of these locations, and especially any mature adult who has visited them, will find these brochures and pamplets to be not only interesting, but absolutely absorbing and enthralling. Everything about these pamphlets fascinates--the print colors used, the clothing shown, the wording, the scenes and photographs chosen, even the paper itself. By seller's inspection all of the brochures are flat, square, clean, and unmarked, although as vintage paper from the 1960s they do show
some minor signs of wear
. To look through them is to open a time capsule, and in their style they also present a class in mid-century marketing. The 19 individual titles include:
1) "
Superior Motel Directory--1963"
2) "Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, Charlottesville, Virginia"
3) "Richmond's Oldest House, A Memorial to Edgar Allan Poe"
