    Description

For sale is a vintage Holton Model 65 trombone. The serial number is difficult to see but looks like it starts with 157xxx, which would make it 1946 vintage. Yellow-brass, 7-inch bell, and .485 bore. Not to be mistaken with the Model 65 made in the 1950's with red brass bell (Buddy Morrow model). As you will see in the photos, miscellaneous lacquer wear from use and miscellaneous small dents in the bell. There is a very minor crease on the end of the bell. The slide is in good shape, good free action, and does have minor chrome wear on the end of the stockings. There is a patch on the upper-outer slide tube that has no effect on the slide. The slide action is probably an 8 out of 10. The water key needs to be adjusted. In all, easy work for a brass technician that can be done for about 0.
The instrument comes with the original case.
This is definitely a lead trombone for jazz and big band playing. The sound is full, fat, luscious. Color it any way you want by choice of mouthpiece. This instrument handles a 5G mouthpiece quite well, unlike some of the small bore Conn trombones so for any of you large bore players, this is a goodie!
