Up for sale is a vintage circa 1920's FE Olds & Son Golden Bear LM Trombone pat. Apr-2-1912, manufactured in Los Angeles, Calif. Serial numbers are M459x and 459x, matching. LM stamped on the horn meant Large/Medium in the Olds factory. It is made of gold brass and is beautifully engraved and has the added 'Golden Bear playing the trombone' engraving and was known as the 'It's a Bear' trombone. Please see the pictures for the detail. This model didn't come with a bell to slide lock; it is a well-made friction fit. The tuning slide it is in the main slide which is a very cool vintage detail. This Standard model was the trombone that put Olds in the map, building a reputation from great quality and craftsmanship.
Dual slide bore .495/.510, with a 6.5" diameter bell flare. It is made of gold brass and solid nickel silver. There are very few scratches or imperfections...this horn is in near immaculate condition. Please see the pictures for overall condition. The slide action is very good; the slide tubes have been cleaned and honed, therefore, may need breaking in, but should get better with use. The stockings are in very good original condition and with minimal wear and there is good compression.
This trombone comes with a mouthpiece(may not be the one pictured) and is shipped in a used original case. This is a great playing jazz horn and has a very good power, solid intonation and slots well. Great for the collector or serious player. I had this horn in my collection and I played it often.
