ca1880 Society of the Arts Style English Brass Microscope

Description

Presented is a very nice ca1880 Society of the Arts style English brass microscope. There is NO name of the maker on the microscope, but that was somewhat common during this time period. The microscope is clean and the brass has a nice shine. The black enameled base looks very nice. The one sided mirror has a good surface. The microscope comes with one eyepiece and two objectives in brass canisters. The draw tube slides up and down by using the coarse focus knobs at the back of the stage. These larger knobs turn smoothly. There is a small fine focus knob to the side of the draw tube. It works smoothly. The stage has a unique hand slide frame to hold the slide. Included is a live box. There are two antique slides included. The wood case is in fine condition. The handle has a slight bend to it. The key is missing. The latch works well.
You will love this antique microscope for your collection. It is a fine specimen of English optical craftsmanship from the late 1800's.
