This piece is the smaller of the 2 Antique/Vintage Carved and Signed Soapstone Kuan Yin/Guan Yin statues that I recently acquired or "rescued" from a local antique store! This piece is carved from the same type of Soapstone that is a beautiful cream color with grey, black, and pink marbling throughout! I love both of these because the artist really left these raw and natural! I could even see where the natural "rock" was! This piece was carved by the same artist, I believe-with the same Master Carver skill and is also engraved across the surface adding to the depth and dimension of this piece! The signature appears to be written (or engraved) in Asian lettering and in a form of cursive lettering! This Kuan Yin is also holding a fan, but this one has a rabbit with her! I do know that I Love Kuan Yin! She was the first of the Buddhist deities I was drawn too! She is one of the female Buddha's and a high-ranking Boddhisatva! She was offered Nirvana, but denied it! She said there was too much suffering on the planet and she would not go until we ALL reach enlightenment! Therefore, she is the Goddess of Love, Mercy, and Compassion! It is believed that there are many of us on the planet who have also taken this vow, the vow of the Boddhisatva, so that we keep re-incarnating until we reach this mass awakening here on Earth...creating the so-called "Heaven on Earth"! I really resonated with this! This would make a great gift for someone born in the Year of the Rabbit! This piece measures about 5 3/4 inches tall, 3 1/2 inches wide, and is 1 1/4 inches thick! This is in great condition with only one small chip to the sleeve of her robe. However, it is hard to tell if it is a chip or a natural inclusion in the stone and carving. These are in amazing condition for their age!
Please see pictures! I sell rocks for my "real" job but have a passion for rare, exotic, treasures-especially Wearable Art! Please ask any questions! Best offers are always welcomed! International shipping is available as long as the buyer pays for the additional shipping costs and fees! I have successfully shipped all over the USA, China, and Russia! Peace, Love, and Light!
