    Antique Victorian Gutta Percha Ornate Carved Floral Mourning Cross Pendant 4" with long chain.
    In excellent condition. Purchased from a museum that was selling its inventory. Incredible condition for its age.
    GUTTA-PERCHA'S earliest appearance occurred in 1822, and by the 1940's it was being used for everything from dental appliances to whole pierces of furniture. The demand for gutta-percha was too high to be sustainable and by the end of the Victorian era the trees were harvested nearly to extinction.
