Antique Papered Microscope Slide ~ Platino-Cyanide Thallium ~ by CM Topping

Offered at auction, a rarely seen and fine Antique Papered Microscope Slide prepared by
renowned
Master Slide Maker Charles M Topping, of an unusual Chemical Compound "Platino-Cyanide Thallium".
This mount was made by Topping near the end of his life, as the compound was only isolated and identified in 1871, and Topping died in 1874.  The small number of examples of this slide that are known, all have Blue cover papers with Yellow edge papers, and carry "London Stereoscopic Photographic Company" labels. It may have been a small Topping commission by the company to prepare a limited number of mounts of this rare compound.  A label on the back informs that this mount was once part of the holdings of the Bath Microscopical Club. in excellent condition, and offers educational and entertaining views using various magnifications and lighting techniques.
