I wish I knew more about this fascinating piece of Antique Jewelry! This looks like it looks like it might have a particular purpose or meaning, but it is intriguing and I've never seen one quite like it! This pendant looks to be a basket of some kind. I keep wanting to open it, but am afraid of damaging it if it isn't supposed to be opened! It reminds me of a Needle Basket for Snuff Bottle, but not quite! I can tell that this is old! The top resembles a jump ring, but is super thick! A smaller jump ring connects to a simple flower with four petals. In the center there is a beautiful bright orange Carnelian bead! The "handle" of the "basket" is next and is very curvy! The "basket" is suspended from the handle so it can move freely! Then, there are five pieces of Silver Fringe that move and dangle from the bottom of the "basket"! On the top of the "basket" is a carved, very pretty "lid" that goes across the basket-which is where I keep wanting to open this! All of these pieces are suspended just so, that all of the parts move and dance! I love jewelry that moves as you move! If you have any further knowledge of this exquisite Antique Pendant-PLEASE let me know! I am also not sure of the metal content of this. It is silver in color and has NO Magnetic Properties! There is a nice Patina to this that I do not want to disturb by attempting to polish this. I do FEEL strongly that this is a high content of silver if not Sterling from my experience and intuition, but have not tested the metal. I also could not locate any markings anywhere on this piece. This measures 2 1/2 inches in length, is about 1 inch at it's widest, and is about 1/2 inch thick! Please see pictures!
