Description
An estate found,mid-nineteenth century Victorian woven hair mourning bracelet with an embossed yellow-gold filled hinged locket clasp which opens to reveal a lock of braided hair under beveled glass, the back engraved
“Dear Grandpa Died Sept 25 1853”
. Offered with no reserve and a low opening bid!
The bracelet measures 7” long overall (excluding the push-in portion of the clasp) x 1” wide; the gold-filled ends & locket measure 2” across; the locket is 1” wide x 1-5/16” high.
Unmarked, but has been tested (by us) on a stone and not the item and is 10 karat gold-filled.
Condition:
some uniform age wear to the braided hair bracelet to include slight fraying in the edges – no breaks or tears. The gold filled locket and hardware has not been cleaned or polished; the push-in clasp opens and closes securely and the locket also opens & closes properly.
