Straight from our brass(and silver) instrument
repair shop, our USED horns are brought back to life...All major dents are removed, joints re-soldered (if needed), patches repaired (if necessary) and the slides reworked. Our horns may be buffed, but all are hand polished to a good shine and are in
good playable
condition. For the collector who is looking for an instrument; we try to keep the original parts whenever possible; if the playability is good, we feel it should be left to the buyer's discretion to replace parts as desired. We are proud to offer this refurbished instrument for sale.
We have tried to describe it as it is, and have shown what we can in the pictures allowed. We are happy to answer any questions asked.

Up for sale is a 1958 R-15 Olds Recording made by FE Olds and Son Tenor Trombone-Fullerton Calif. The horn has matching serial numbers: 290xxx and is in great condition. The bell is made of Olds Rey-o-loy rose brass, with nickel silver neck and tuning. The handslide is dual bore nickel silver with fluted inner tubes above the stockings. The slide bore is .495/.510 and the bell flare is 8".
There are various small dings and scratches throughout and mild pitting at the grips. The slide action is very good and the slide tubes have been cleaned and honed(there may be some residual scratchiness which will improve with play). There is one very small flake on the stocking. This horn has good compresssion and great intonation. I have played many Recording trombones and this one is a stand-out.
This instrument is not lacquered; therefore, this instrument may have to be polished periodically (we recommend using Weiman METAL Polish)
. The horn comes with a vintage Olds case, but is not original to the Recording and comes with a used mouthpiece(may not be the one pictured).
The Recording was built as Olds' 'top of the line' small bore tenor trombone...it plays everything well; it plays all ranges of volume and with lots of power when needed and with a smooth tone. This horn is a precise player, good for jazz; it slots very well and has very good intonation. Thanks for looking and check out our other items!
