    Description

    1923 Conn 4h Trombone-silver w/ gold wash bell.
This historic piece was donated as part of an instrument donation program for students of need to the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra. Given the condition, age and playability, we are selling the horn instead of giving it to a student (and we will use the proceeds to repair other donated instruments).
The skinny on this: I’m lead trombone in CJO and am a Music Prof, so I feel my depiction is accurate.
    1. Slide is currently about a 7.5, but I’ve pulled some prehistoric dirt off of it, and there’s a good bit more that could come off. Everything is aligned, no dents, plating is good-I’d bet this will be a 9+ when thoroughly cleaned and maintained. A reasonable bit of hand wear is present (see pix).
    2. Like horns of this vintage, it’s a pressure fit between slide and bell (and again, that makes this a silly option for a student). There is a slide lock however.
    3. Bell section-Plating is in great condition. Lots of scratches, some hand wear where bell is pressure fitted to the slide. Engraving is clear, though is not as ornate as some from this time period.
    4. Case is solid and has little of the ‘old case funk’ smell. Most humans wouldn’t be offended by it. A generic 12c mouthpiece is included.
