    Description

Straight from our brass (and silver) instrument repair shop, our USED horns are brought back to life...All major dents are removed, joints re-soldered (if needed), patches repaired (if necessary) and the slides reworked.  Our horns may be buffed, but all are hand polished to a good shine and are in
    good playable
condition.  We are proud to offer this refurbished instrument for sale. We have tried to describe it as it is, and are happy to answer any questions asked.  #4/2018
Up for sale is a 1914 Holton Special made by Frank Holton Co, Chicago, professional tenor trombone.  The serial # is 266xx with the letter 'A'.  It is stamped with "Union Label", Frank Holton Chicago with the number 1 in a circle.  There is also "pat.10-27-08".  This horn has a neck to slide friction fit connection and someone has added cork to the connection pipe to facilitate a tighter fit.  The cork can be seen in the pictures.  The horn is made of silver-plate and has a deep gold wash inside the bell with a lovely dark gold patina.  The engraving on the bell is very nice.  There are very few minor pings and some minor dings at the grips.  There is some light scratching at the bell brace and around the grips.  The slide action is very good for the age of the instrument and overall there is very little visible wear.  There is good compression.  The slide bore is .475/.475 and has a smaller bell flare of 6".
The horn comes with a used case and a mouthpiece : Frank Holton Chicago 6
    .
This instrument is not lacquered; therefore, this instrument may have to be polished periodically (we recommend using Weiman METAL Polish)
    .
This horn is a good playing, full-toned tenor JAZZ horn, with good intonation and very, very bright, crisp sound.  It slots well too.
This pea-shooter is a quintessential lead and is great condition and is a total BLAST to play!
