These are in excellent condition.  They did not need polished.  I suppose they could be plated.
Of course, when you hang a picture on a string by a nail, you can't just let the nail show! When it comes to out-and-out "panache" it is hard to beat the brilliance  of the Victorian era. Flourishes, scrollwork, a love of classicism and flair - all are endearing characteristics of "the Heroic Era." They are 1 3/4 inches LONG x 7/8" & 3/8 inch deep.

If you can read backwards, you will still be able to read in on back as printing, like all of embellishment on cover, is raised repousse. These nail covers are light weight similar to tin.
