    Description

From my Microscope Collection: Here we have a
RARE,1800's, Combination Brass Drum Field Microscope & 2 Draw Telescope Spyglass in
    a
    Mahogany Box
    .
There is no maker's mark on this instrument. These 'combination' instruments rarely show up for auction or sale.
The set includes a 2-draw telescope that is in working condition.
In the closed position it is 6-1/2" long.
    When fully opened
    (
    15-3/8"
    L)
it has 2 'sliding draws' and a short sliding front section that acts as a shade for the lens
    .
The main front barrel is approx. 1-1/8"in diameter and has
    a
nice leather wrap and a brass front lens cover.
    To use the
    microscope,
you unscrew the 3-1/2" long first draw with the eyepiece and screw it into the top of the upright microscope base.
This then allows you to push-pull the tube for focusing on the stage area.
The base has a nice swiveling mirror. This set also comes with an eyepiece with loose lens, a small objective housing with no lens, a small live box, and a nice vintage set of 6 prepared microscope slides.
    The entire set
    fit
    s nicely
into the compartmentalized finely crafted MAHOGANY case.
The insides are lined with blue felt. The case has 2 good brass hinges and a brass lock, however there is no key.
    No cracks in the box.
    The Mahogany case is 7-1/2"L x 4-1/4"W x 2-1/4"H.
This RARE, combination instrument would make a very nice addition to your collection !
