They did not need polished. I suppose they could be plated.
Of course, when you hang a picture on a string by a nail, you can't just let the nail show! When it comes to out-and-out "panache" it is hard to beat the brilliance of the Victorian era. Flourishes, scrollwork, a love of classicism and flair - all are endearing characteristics of "the Heroic Era." Every aspect of Victorian art; from its obsession to detail and workmanship to its affair with all things Rococo - define it as a triumph for its nameless, forgotten artists.
They are so ornate & pretty. My next listing will be as a pendant for necklace here on Ebay.
They are 1 3/4 inches long x 7/8" & 3/8 inch deep. ITB 74
